RUMOR, UNVERIFIED

GTA VI install size claimed to exceed 200GB

Credibility: low · Traces to 1 independent origin · First reported 2026-10-12 · Last reviewed 2026-10-23

So, is this actually true?

Unproven. The 200GB+ figure originates with an anonymous, unverified leaker and is being reported by Dexerto. The leaker is tying further releases to a cryptocurrency price target, which gives them a reason to exaggerate. Rockstar has not publicly announced the final installation size.

The claim

The final download for Grand Theft Auto VI is larger than 200GB.

Where it came from

The figure originates with an anonymous, unverified leaker going by Cyberleek, who said on October 12, 2026 that a "playable build" they claim to hold is around 200GB. Dexerto reported the claim the same day and noted the leaker links new releases to the market value of a cryptocurrency token. We cite only Dexerto's news report, not the leaker's posts.

What we know

Rockstar has not published a file size. Its June 24, 2026 announcement says pre-loading opens on November 12, 2026, so console stores should show the real download size around then. The claimed build would not necessarily match the retail release in any case.

What we don't know

Whether the leaker has any build at all, what kind of build it is, and how a development build's size relates to the compressed retail download on PS5 or Xbox.

Our assessment

The only source is an anonymous leaker with a financial motive to attract attention, describing a build that is not the retail release. The size of a game is not evidence either way, so we do not treat the figure as plausible or implausible on that basis. We rate it low and will update it when store listings show a real size during the November 12 pre-load window. We do not link to or describe any leaked material; our only source is Dexerto's news report of the claim.
